Hello all,
We have had a crazy and busy summer so far! Over the 4th of July shutdown at work, we had a great week of visitors! My sister Deb and her daughter Hannah came from Albuquerque and my dad came from Biloxi. Kenny and Kristi and family came from North Platte, and Billy and family came from Iowa, and Katie came from Denver! We had a houseful! On top of that we had a birthday party for Akaela (she’s 13!) and had about 45 people out to our house. We had wonderful weather and the kids enjoyed swimming, a water balloon fight, an egg toss, good food and good company! How great it is to have such good friends and family!
We enjoyed a week of movies, shopping, relaxing, visiting, etc – the kids were so happy to spend so much time together….Hannah wants to come back next year! We cooked and cooked and cooked – AND we found a dim sum place in Omaha!!!!
We also had our six month visit from our social worker, Barbara. She is so fun. We really enjoy visiting with her. She said that since she met Noelle, she has been telling so many people about her.
Lately Noelle has been telling us some of the sad things that she experienced while in China. She said that she witnessed a couple of children of the orphanage die, and she was telling us that sometimes the kids had to go without food. These stories are so hard to take for us, we are sick at heart that she had to endure them, but we are so grateful that she doesn’t have to anymore. But, our hearts are aching for those left behind, especially those special needs kids…
She also received an email from the daughter of her favorite nanny. She was very nice – she said she remembered the first time that she met Noelle –she was so little that she couldn’t walk or talk, but she was singing! She said that her mom, the nanny, still thinks of Noelle often and dreams about her. She thanked us for being her parents and said that they looked at this site and were thrilled to see how happy she is. All in all, it was a good experience for Noelle. Again, we are so grateful for these people who loved our little girl before we were able to. She has people on both sides of the world who love her!
